Vice City
The glamour, hustle, and greed of America captured in a single city. Each neighborhood has something to offer, from the pastel art deco hotels and bright white sands of Ocean Beach, to the bustling panaderías of Little Cuba and the bootleg brands of the Tisha-Wocka flea market, out to the VC Port, the cruise ship capital of the world.
Official screenshots show dirt bikes and ATVs pulling tricks on a city road, a club with dollar bills floating over the dancers, and a night skyline with a ferris wheel.
One shot catches two women being handcuffed by a police officer while a third takes a selfie in front of them and a fourth poses on the police car.
Ultimate Edition places sit across the city: Stock 305 and the Electric Fang Tattoo in Stockyard, the Squalo boat at Washington Beach, and the Paradise Garage in Watson Bay.
The Ultimate Edition's compound raid targets one of Southside Vice City's loudest gangs — see GTA 6 compound raids.

Leonida Keys
Life in this tropical archipelago isn't flashy but it's easy. Get your buzz on and pull up a deck chair but look out — you are right on the doorstep of some of the most beautiful and dangerous waters in all of America.
Jason works for local drug runners in the Keys, and Brian Heder is a drug runner from the golden age of smuggling there.
Official screenshots show an iguana crossing in front of a mobility scooter, a rowdy beach bar, and boat parties with jet skis and flamingo floaties.
Under the water, Rockstar shows two scuba divers among coral, fish, an eel and a sea turtle.
OfficialSources 2

Grassrivers
You never know what lies beneath the surface of this primordial expanse. The gators may be the most famous attraction, but there are far deadlier predators and weirder discoveries among the mangroves.
Official screenshots show an airboat surrounded by alligators, its passenger aiming at the closest one, and three mud-covered hunters posing with a dead alligator and a wildcat.
A police helicopter and two cruisers chase a pickup truck through the swamp in one shot, with an airboat in the background.
A speedboat heads for buildings on piers, the Vice City skyline in the distance.

Port Gellhorn
Cheap motels, shut-down attractions, and empty strip malls won't bring the tourists back, but there's a new economy in this once-popular vacation spot. It's fueled by malt liquor, painkillers, and truck stop energy drinks. Jump on a dirt bike and hold onto your wallet.
Official screenshots show two men in a room under grow lights, one holding a shovel and the other a baseball bat.
Nights in Port Gellhorn: a motel with its vacancy sign lit, a cabaret parking lot, and a woman passing a package through a car window.
Another shot shows a bonfire party, a couple off to the side by a pickup truck.
OfficialSources 2

Ambrosia
In the heart of Leonida, American industry and old school values still reign supreme — whatever the cost. The Allied Crystal sugar refinery provides the jobs, while the local biker gang provides almost everything else.
Official screenshots show the Ambrosia skyline at night with smoke stacks, and a biker gang riding in matching leather vests.
One shot shows a woman hugging a man from behind with a handgun in her hand; another, a man at the wheel while women in bikinis wash his car.
OfficialSources 2

Mount Kalaga
A national landmark up against the state's northern border, Mount Kalaga offers prime hunting, fishing, and off-road trails. In the lush surrounding backwoods, hillbilly mystics and paranoid radicals live far from the prying eyes of the government.
Official screenshots show dirt bikes racing through mud with an ATV jumping behind them, two people walking the woods with rifles, and a kayaker heading for a bridge.
A cougar stalks deer at a stream and a news helicopter flies over the ridge in Rockstar's shots of the park.
The Ultimate Edition's '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy is billed as a Mud Club monster for the backwoods of Mount Kalaga, stored at the Paradise Garage.

How big the map is
Leonida is twice the size of GTA V's map and three times Red Dead Redemption 2's. Vice City alone is twice the size of Los Santos, and Vice City with its suburbs is 11 times Los Santos and its surroundings.
Game Informer's cover story calls Leonida the biggest map Rockstar has made, twice GTA V's, split into six major sections. Its north edge is the Leonida–Gloriana line, Rockstar's Florida–Georgia border.
Normally you compromise scale for detail or detail for interaction, but with this project we went the other way. Everything is dialed up: detail, scope, breadth, scale, interaction, and density.
Ambrosia is run by a biker gang, the First Chapter, whose bar is the Thirsty Wolf. Roads are narrower and closer to real-world widths than GTA V's, with denser traffic.

Weather and wildlife
Leonida has dynamic cloudscapes and localized storms: you can see rain falling in the distance while you stay dry. Puddles and wet surfaces linger after a storm, and rainbows can form.
Tropical storms and seasonal hurricanes hit Leonida. Game Informer says Rockstar has not said how often, or how they affect gameplay and the story.
Over 170 animal species live across land, air and sea, some never seen in a Rockstar game: flamingos, manatees, pelicans and alligators, plus invasive green iguanas, cane toads, feral cats and rhesus macaques.
Some animals are classed as Rare, Discoverable or Legendary, and Rockstar is keeping the legendary ones secret. You can study animals as in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Places and brands in the Extended Look
Police cruisers marked "Vice Beach Police" chase Jason and Lucia past art deco hotels and a pink seafront promenade, so Vice Beach has its own police force, as Miami Beach does.
Jason and Lucia meet Brian Heder and his wife Lori for lunch at the Effluvia, a rooftop restaurant with a neon sign, before Brian brokers a job for them.
The opening mission, collecting from Raymond for Boobie Ike, passes W. Blanco's Cuban Foods, a grocery under a mural of an eagle, a flag and a rifle, with a water tower behind.
The last third of the video is a gala for Megamundo, a Spanish-speaking multinational opening its first US headquarters in Vice City. Its COO is Petra Navarro, and Jason and Lucia work security for Andrés de León.
Brands on screen: a TV ad for Angstipan, a parody antidepressant ("Does life feel hopeless?"), and GAINZ weight plates in the gym where Lucia does the L2/R2 bench-press minigame. Game Informer confirms Snapmatic, GTA V's photo app, is back.
How the map works
The story begins in the Leonida Keys, where Jason's first house from the trailer sits. When you unlock new areas they are filled in on the map; unexplored areas stay hidden until you visit, as in GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2.
Areas around hideouts are safe zones where vehicles cannot be stolen, and some story locations are protected too.
Robbery targets above the local-store tier can show up on this map with an estimated take — see the GTA 6 heists page.
